2018 Principal and Executives Conference
Exciting Update: Tim Costello and Murray Burton confirmed as speakers!
Come and join us for a fantastic time in a truly breathtaking setting, on the waterfront of the Derwent River.
The conference theme is 'The Elephant in the Room'. How many 'elephants' do we deal with daily in our schools? In this current age and culture, the 'elephants' that affect our desire to run distinctive, Christian schools can appear to stampede and take over. But we know of course, that God is in control and despite the massive shifts in our culture, we still proclaim His Lordship over all of creation.
The conference will dare to unpack some of the challenging 'elephants' including a focus on Risk management and legal challenges, and discussions around gender dysphoria. It is our hope that in the ‘taming of the elephants’ you would be encouraged and challenged and supported by your colleagues in Christian Education.
The conference will commence at 10.30am on Tuesday 6th March, allowing time for folk to fly in to Hobart on the Tuesday morning. The conference finishes with a cruise on the Derwent River over dinner on the Thursday evening. You may like to consider staying on for the weekend in this beautiful location (Salamanca market is a perfect destination for Saturday morning!) Special room rates will continue for those staying on, or arriving early (you may prefer to arrive on Monday).
We are pleased to be introducing the following speakers and presenters to our conference (with a few more to still be announced)
- Mock Court International
- Dr Stephen Stathis (Medical Director, Child and Youth Mental Health Service, Queensland Hospital, working with gender dysphoric children and youth)
- Patricia Weerakoon (Sexologist specialising in the teenage brain)
- Tim Costello
- Murray Burton (Elim Christian College, New Zealand)
