Marrara Christian College caters for 560 students from preschool to year 12 within three sections or schools:

  • Our primary school encompasses preschool to year 6 and focuses on the foundational years of formal education
  • The middle school which has been operating since 1998 includes year 7 to year 9 and is designed to engage young teens through the ‘lost’ years of education
  • The senior school, year 10 to year 12 is aimed at developing formal academic study skills as well as introducing vocationally orientated options.

We have a boarding program in the school for indigenous students that is unique in Australia. Groups of ten students live in the suburbs as a family group with house parents who look after them like they were their own. This program is producing outstanding results in student retention and is considered best practice Australia wide.

We run a commercial construction company that focuses on training students from our college as well as other schools in construction and engineering. This project has recently been selected as the basis for an Australian Government Trade Training Centre.

The College is committed to maintaining a family feel where parents are just as welcome as their students. On parent picnic days parents come for a picnic lunch under our shady trees with their children and usually a few extras. Parents are also involved in decision making through the College Council and the Northern Territory Christian Schools Association which owns and operates the college and six other schools in the Northern Territory.

Our genuine commitment to implementing a bible-based curriculum and structure means that all our staff are active Christians who believe that God made each child special and with a purpose. Our role is to assist parents to help their children discover their gifts, develop them and consider the ways in which they may be used to serve others. We do not just fill the students with education but we help the whole child discover their potential and develop their character that enables them to make a positive contribution to society now and after they have finished school.
