Channel Christian School is situated on the north west bay in Margate, approximate 20 minutes drive from Hobart.
 
The school was established in 1988 by a small number of dedicated Christian families that lived in the area. The vision was to develop a second primary school to feed into Calvin Secondary.

Peter van der Schoor was the founding principal who had been involved in Christian education in Tasmania and interstate. His legacy was a simple well run school with a rigorous educational program which was well grounded in biblical studies, literacy, numeracy and physical education program.
 
In 2008 an art program was developed in the school with opportunities for students to exhibit their work in the community.

The current head of school is Heather King. She committed to steering the school through the current period of growth with the prayerful and wise support from the school council. It is her vision to see Channel Christian School maintain a strong witness in the Margate community with a solid Christ centered basis for education of children for the years to come.
