Annandale Christian College has been providing Christian education to families in the greater Townsville area since 1982, and we are truly thankful to God for his goodness, his faithfulness and his upholding over the years. Of course, things have changed quite a lot since the school's humble beginnings in a football clubhouse with one teacher and thirteen students from Year 1 to Year 7. Today we have 400 students from Pre-Prep to Year 12, a teaching and ancillary staff of 40 people, and our own facilities nestled in a green, leafy landscape.
Located in one of Townsville's youngest and fastest growing suburbs, and adjacent to Lavarack Barracks, James Cook University and the Townsville General Hospital, the school sees itself as a purposeful, educational community.
Our foundation families had a vision to provide their children with the 'finest education' which was based ultimately upon the revealed Word of God, pointed its students to the Saviour of mankind and equipped them for a life of worthwhile service to God and man. While the facilities, resources, teaching methods, teachers, students and parents have changed, and numbers expanded over the years, we still hold fast to this unfailing vision.
At Annandale, we delight in teaching and learning in community and strategically foster a 'one school' philosophy. This builds strong relationships across the year levels, and between students and staff, creating a safe, joyful learning environment. The school community values right attitudes and behaviours. Enthusiastic, caring Christian teachers work explicitly to know every student by name, and encourage each one to strive for excellence in learning and Godly character in order to reach their full potential. The school has a well-balanced curriculum which develops academic, sporting and creative skills, and also offers a range of extra-curricula opportunities such as chess and science clubs, Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and student council, to develop students' God-given abilities.
